Professor You Zheng tells teachers and students about intelligent micro-system technology and its applications


On July 15, Professor You Zheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Tsinghua University, was a guest at the Huangdao Forum and delivered an academic report entitled Intelligent Microsystem Technology and Its Application.


Starting from the development trend of integrated circuits, Academician You Zheng pointed out that one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century was integrated circuits. The development density of integrated circuits is getting higher and higher and their performance is getting stronger. The combination of integrated circuits and other fields has produced a new technology category, namely intelligent micro-systems. He centered on the intelligent micro system, and introduced in detail the technical connotation, characteristics, sensor technology and its application of the intelligent micro system, as well as the outlook for the future.


Academician You Zheng believes that the technical connotation of smart microsystems can be expounded from two aspects: its five major technical elements and essential characteristics.


The five technical elements of intelligent microsystems include architecture, microelectronics, MEMS, optoelectronics, and software (including algorithms). Among them, the architecture determines the state, distribution, interaction, flow and logic of hardware, energy, and information in the smart micro system. It is the core element of the smart micro system and governs the three basic technologies of microelectronics, MEMS, and optoelectronics. Microelectronics requires the development of reconfigurable, programmable, and storage-computing integration, so that it can serve application scenarios more effectively. MEMS is the integration of mechanical units, sensitive structures, actuators and related circuits on a chip to form a micro system device with specific functions. It is a revolutionary new technology and is widely used in high-tech industries. Optoelectronics technology has the advantages of high detection accuracy, fast processing speed, and large transmission flux, and is widely used in communication, detection and perception, transmission and other fields. Software and algorithms give the hardware soul and ideas. The software acts as a bridge between users and intelligent micro-systems, and the algorithm directly determines the performance of the system. The combination of the five elements realizes the intelligence of the micro system.


Intelligent microsystems have three essential characteristics: miniaturization, systematization and intelligence. Miniaturization refers to the realization of a multifunctional integrated miniaturized system with signal perception, signal processing, signaling execution and empowerment through three-dimensional heterogeneous and heterogeneous integration methods. Systematization means that the advantages of software and hardware synergy show a comprehensive system performance of 1+1>2. Intelligence is the embodiment of the knowledge and wisdom of intelligent micro-systems, and is not limited to the implementation of AI algorithms.


When introducing the characteristics of intelligent microsystems, Academician You Zheng pointed out that intelligent microsystems technology is a typical multidisciplinary cutting-edge science and technology field, which brings together a variety of disciplines such as mathematics, physics, mechanics, electronics, and instrument science. The intelligent micro system has the characteristics of small size, light weight, low power consumption, high cost performance, high performance, high precision, and high integration. The intelligent micro system's ultra-sensitive sensing detection, ultra-high-performance processing and calculation, ultra-high-density storage and transmission, ultra-high-precision operation execution, ultra-efficient energy management and supply, and ultra-high-density chip integration make it The functional density is maximized.


When introducing sensor technology, Academician You Zheng pointed out that sensor technology is the source of information obtained by intelligent micro-systems, and is the premise and foundation for realizing subsequent functions such as processing, storage, communication, and execution. The development of sensor technology has gone through five stages: discrete sensors, integrated sensors, networked sensors, MEMS sensors, smart sensors and microsystems. The development trend presents the characteristics of multi-function, high performance, high integration, low power consumption, self-powered, passive, intelligent, and wireless.


Academician You Zheng also introduced the application of smart sensors and micro-system technology in the Internet of Things, smart cars, smart transportation, aerospace, medical and health, consumer electronics, robotics, etc.


Finally, Academician You Zheng put forward several suggestions: First, it is necessary to integrate production and education, innovate to cultivate talents required for smart sensors and micro-systems, and develop more Chinese original core technologies; second, to rationally deploy through public platforms Construction and common technology development to realize the efficient operation of the entire sensor industry; third, to demonstrate applications, focus on representative social and economic needs such as major national engineering tasks and important strategic equipment urgently needed by the country. Reflect the advantages of the national system, promote industrial agglomeration, and form an industrial ecology of sensors.

Over the past 20 years, he has trained more than 100 graduate students, obtained more than 90 national invention patents, published more than 400 SCI/EI papers, published 4 monographs and 2 translations. Won 3 second prizes of the National Technology Invention Award, 2 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and provincial and ministerial science and technology awards.
