College of Control Science and Engineering, China University of Petroleum (East China) has its roots in Department of Automation, Beijing Petroleum Institute established in 1959. Department of Automation, Huadong Petroleum Institute, established in 1978, had Automatic Teaching and Research Section, Electrical Teaching and Research Section. College of Information and Control Engineering was founded in 2001, and it was adjusted to College of Control Science and Engineering (CCSE) in 2019. At present, CCSE consists of five units: Department of Automation, Department of Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument, Electrical Engineering and Electronics Teaching Center, Experimental Teaching Center and College Office. CCSE offers three undergraduate majors: Automation, Measurement and control technology and instrument, and Intelligent Perception Engineering. CCSE has 84 faculty members, including 53 full-time teachers, 9 supervisors for doctoral programs and 30 supervisors for master programs. There are 877 undergraduate students, 185 full-time postgraduate students (including 108 for academic type and 77 for professional type) and 48 doctoral students in CCSE.
CCSE has one doctoral degree in the first-level discipline: Control Science and Engineering; one master degree in the first-level discipline: Control Science and Engineering; one provincial key discipline: Control Theory and Control Engineering; one provincial “Advantageous Characteristic Discipline” construction discipline: Control Science and Engineering; two national first-class undergraduate majors: “Automation Major” and “Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument Major”; one national particular major construction discipline: “Automation Major”; one national online first-class course: “Electrical Engineering and Electronics”; one first-class undergraduate course in Shandong province: “Signals and Systems”; one Shandong province model course of thought politics: “Electrical Engineering and Electronics”; one provincial bilingual teaching model course: “Electrical Engineering and Electronics”; one national teaching team: “Electrical Engineering and Electronics Basic Course Teaching Team”; and one Qingdao Huangdao district innovation team: “Rotary Steerable Drilling Tool Team”.
After years of construction, CCSE has a batch of domestic advanced teaching and scientific research experimental equipment. Over the past five years, 88 core research projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program) and National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program), as well as provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, has been investigated and completed in CCSE. Recently, CCSE has formed scientific research advantages and characteristic technologies in the aspects of oil and gas measurement and control technology, simulation training of refining and chemical plant, advanced control and optimization of production process, measurement while drilling, development of rotary steering drilling tool, etc. Moreover, 571 papers have been retrieved by SCI and EI, and 154 invention patents have been obtained. Besides, 20 national as well as provincial and ministerial teaching and scientific research awards have been achieved.
